Key features.

If you are planning to develop within a flood risk area, you are likely to require a Flood Risk Assessment as part of the statutory planning process. Our Flood Risk Assessment reports are completed in line with National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) guidance by our team of experienced consultants.

Our expertise enables us to understand when flood risk is a development constraint, and if so, how to overcome this in the most cost-effective way. We fully tailor our reports to the specific requirements set out by the Lead Flood Authority, ensuring your application for development is approved.

Sustainable drainage strategies

A key requirement of a Flood Risk Assessment is to demonstrate that the overall development does not increase the risk of flooding elsewhere. Where an increase in surface water run-off is anticipated, the applicant can implement Sustainable Drainage Systems as part of the design of the development, which manage run off and reduce the flow of water off the site. These systems incorporate techniques to manage and control the flow of water from the initial downpour to entering a water body, including interception, storage, treatment and attenuation.

The Planning Authority will request a Sustainable Drainage Strategy if your development is situated within a critical drainage area or if it is over a hectare in size. Depending on the location, it may also be required for any new developments.

If the Planning Authority request a Sustainable Drainage Strategy, please contact us for a bespoke proposal that will be tailored to your development and timeframes.

  • Argyll provided us with detailed flood consultancy reports to more accurately understand risks identified at a desktop report level. These reports allowed us to understand anticipated flood depths and plan suitable flood protection measures.
